BDA Apartments Owners Forum Launched to Represent Collective Interests of Apartment Owners

Bengaluru, 07.04.2026: Apartment owners of Bangalore Development Authority (BDA)-constructed residential projects have come together to launch the BDA Apartments Owners Forum, a collective platform aimed at representing the shared interests of owners and strengthening engagement with public authorities.

The Forum has taken shape through the coming together of like-minded apartment owners and representatives from multiple BDA Apartment projects, including BDA Alur, BDA Gunjur, BDA Janabharathi Enclave, BDA Kaniminike, BDA Kommaghatta, BDA Konadasapura, BDA Thippasandara, among others.

The Forum builds on sustained and coordinated efforts by apartment owners over the past few months. Collective engagement has already led to meaningful progress in areas such as maintenance, expediting pending works, and improving coordination with BDA authorities. These efforts have helped bring BDA apartment-related concerns into mainstream discussion, including review meetings at BDA, marking a shift towards greater institutional recognition of these issues.

For many apartment owners, these challenges have had a direct impact on daily living. Residents, many of them first-time homebuyers, have faced prolonged delays in maintenance, incomplete works, and a lack of clarity in handover processes. In several cases, this has resulted in financial strain and ongoing inconvenience.

What began as isolated concerns across individual projects has now evolved into coordinated and collective representation. As BDA expands its footprint in vertical developments, the need for a structured and representative platform for owners has become increasingly important. The Forum aims to address this by enabling more consistent, solution-oriented engagement with BDA and other stakeholders, while focusing on improving governance, accountability, and overall living standards across BDA apartment communities.

At its current stage, the Forum is working closely with BDA on key priorities such as enabling the formation of apartment associations and facilitating a more structured and transparent handover and takeover (HOTO) process. These efforts are seen as foundational steps towards ensuring better long-term management and ownership clarity across BDA apartment projects.

Beyond immediate priorities, the Forum aims to play a broader role in shaping conversations around apartment governance within the BDA ecosystem. This includes advocating for clearer frameworks, improved processes, and the inclusion of apartment-specific considerations within existing policies and regulations of BDA. The launch of the Forum formalizes these efforts and sets the stage for more consistent, solution-oriented engagement going forward
